When Tim Dirven contacted me to travel to Georgia together, I was expecting a war-torn country, ugly and poor, where the scars of a decade long power struggle between the West and the East was palpable on the streets. I thought of rusty tank cadavers, of Soviet babushka’s and grim dedushka’s.
